it is surrounded by poor countries. why are they poor and israel is rich? they come from the same genetic stock. are arabs just dumber? how do you account for the inferiority of the surrounding arabs?

The Israelis understand that they must use their resources and work for themselves.
Example:
When Israel lost the Hadassah Hospital and the Hebrew University on Mount Scopus in 1948 to Jordan, they then built a new Hebrew University and a new Hadassah Hospital in West Jerusalem.
In contrast, the Arab states told their people to leave Israel and then they will be able to return to a state free of Jews in 1948. They then proceeded to keep these Arabs in refugee camps in the Arab countries for decades rather than try to make them productive citizens. This is called cynical exploitation of their own people for political gains.

Actually, many Arab countries are rich. Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Iraq before we blew them to bits are all rich. They are because they have oil. Besides the oil, they have no other resources to sell to the world. Israel is rich because they have a sea border. It has nothing to do with religion or genetics. It's all about location. People hate Israel because the Jews not only moved in and took over, but because they took the best location.

Because Israelies want to live, at their own risk, at their own cost. They are ready to work, to beleive, to fight for and ready to die for thier country. Unless a country is a colony of someother country, poverty is caused by it's own mistakes, its own people, its own government. Not all arabs are poors. Look at the many very prosperous arab countries. They are richest in the world! They too are same genetic stock. Same part of the earth,same continent! They support fellow arab countries in the same way Israelis around the world help and contribute their country's growth.
Success does not come easily! How and why Japan is successful after the tragedies? Same rule apply everywhere.

Israel is rich coz of the great help that it gets from the USA, and coz of the smart people in its gov. that do not steal it.
Arabs countries on the other hands all of them are ruled by dictator's that steal there own countries, give the people no freedom, and try to keep them not aware of what is happening so they could stay in rule.
and have to mention the big effect of Islam that keeps Arab way far behind the world!

Because the Israelis actually work to improve the land and make it productive.
The surrounding countries' people abuse the land and turn it into more desert.
The fabeled "cedars of Lebabon" were real... The Lebanese abused thier forests and they have a desert in place of the forest.

One needs to remember that God blessed the descendants of Jacob. Judah is just one of them. Israelites also learnt all the crafts of the Egyptians during their 450 year sojourn there. Until God withdraws His blessings Israel will continue to baffle us specially when we are ignorant of the origin of their fortunes.

American both by cash and kind. I mean they are diplomatically closer to US. US is benefited by Israel by its geographical location that it has a firm and trusted friend in tht region. Israel gets benefited by the commited support by US by means of support in all aspects.

Remember that Israel got allowances from many different places that are controlled by the same group of people.
Asking on why Israel is rich is like asking on why a kid with rich parents that regulary send him/her allowances is rich.
