How do you become a songwriter?

I've been writing songs since I was 9 years old (I'm 16 -- will be 17 in August) -- in that time I've written over 500 songs, I just would like to know [for those fellow songwriters, or ppl who know songwriters, or have "connections" in the music industry] how to go about doing this professionally and LEGIT!

First of all get those songs copy written so nobody can steal and claim them as there own. If you send them all at once to be copy written it is the same price as if you send one at a time so send them all in. There is a small charge but it is worth it. After you do this send your songs around to different music artists and see what happens.
