The worm is a bit of a party animal, when the early bird gets him he is usually shuffling home pissed after an all nighter somewhere, he hasn't actually been to bed yet and is going to spend the rest of the day mooching on the sofa and watching day time television - the early bird on the other hand is a bit of a boring kind of person who gets up at 6am on Jan the 1st to start his tax return and is up early probably going to the recycle centre or something on his way to work as an accountant somewhere and just happens to run into the worm on the way.
Its a complex relationship, and one that is profound on many levels, but none the less it stays with me.
EDIT - A thumbs down?? Sorry, did that person want an in depth break down of the motivations and characteristics of a worm? Or is it that troll again going through all my questions and giving them a thumbs down? Oh this site makes me sad sometimes...

When the phrase, "Early to bed, Early to rise", is said, kids tend to ask what's the benefits of rising early.
Thus, another corollary was created "Early bird catches the worm" to emphasise on the incentivisation part.
The logic is simple. The worms tend to be active during dawn and dusk. During the heat of the day, they bury themselves underground.
This is also used as a marketing strategy "Early Bird Prizes" for those who come in early.
The earlier the bird rises and forages for food, the more food it shall get, as it will get crowded afterwards with lots of awaken birds.

The worm was asleep when it became the victim of early riser.
Its the warning sign to other worms that they too sud wake up soon and defend themselves whatever way possible.

Well, the worm obviously never heard that saying. Or else it just wanted to die. Who knows what goes on in a worm's head?

that is a good one- it makes you think. maybe the worm thought that no one was awake and ended up being a victim.
