Augy is a jerk.

It's probably just a staph infection. I don't know why he'd prescribe motrin for an infection though.. but he is a doctor he knows things I don't!

The reason he didn't write a prescription for motrin is because it's an OTC medicine. Go buy a bottle of motrin and take it however often the bottle says to take it for pain.. 2 pills every 12 hours or whatever.. I would do that every other day so you don't make your stomach too upset.

Yes he can probably tell that it's not a tumor (ie; not cancer) from ultrasound. If it's not a tumor, the likelihood that it's cancer is pretty much zero.

My boyfriend has a staph infection (which is what your doctor thinks you have) on his upper thighs right under his butt and he's had lumps form there and go away, form there and go away, that have lasted for a week or for a year and a half..

Just listen to your doctor and take some motrin. If the lump gets larger or starts to hurt badly go back to your docs.

You have a swollen lymph gland. The main cause of this gland swelling is a infection which can be anywhere in your body. This may be why the doctor felt it wasn't serious. He needs to prescribe you an antibiotic for the infection. Call the doctors office back and request that he give you an antibiotic. They will do this over the phone and won't have a problem because he has already seen you. But you need an antibiotic to get rid of the infection.

The doctors can feel it, see if it is a solid mass, and with their experience can generally tell you whether they think it is cancer. However all they need to do is a blood test and check your blood for cancer antigens. And most of the time they do a biopsy where they take a tiny portion of it and check it for cancer. Biopies do not hurt, they give you a local and it is a procedure that you have done right in the doctors office. Your doctor may not be a specialist in this area, you need to see a doctor who specializes in this area like an endocronologist or go to a women's clinic.

You can take 800mg of motrin every six hours. If it doesn't help with the pain you can try something else. Try 600 mg of motrin and 1000mg of tylenol together. That works well. Oh every six to eight hours for that.

Its just an infection go back and get your antibiotics please, oh yeh, Augy is a jerk someone kick him off the server. What you have is a cyst nothing to do with cancer. What you didn't understand is that this could be caused by a small ingrown hair follicle, or a small cut, from when you were shaving, from bacteria under your finger nail where you may have scratched the area, anything like this o.k.. Go back and tell your doc you didn't quite understand and you'll be fine possibly an antiseptic cream would help but antibiotics would be the best.

Yes, sometimes an ultrasound can tell the difference between cancer and something such as a benign (meaning it's not abnormal) such as a cyst.

Because you have had this for a while and the dr is saying that there's nothing wrong I would recommend getting another opinion to be on the safe side.

I am not a doctor, but i don't think u should worry just yet..People have glands all over their bodies (under the neck, arm pits, groin etc..) like when u get a cold, the ones in your neck may swell and get hard. your body might just be trying to fight something off..If it is painful it may be an abcess (boil) just a collection of mucus and bacteria..kinda like a big pimple.. put hot towels on it several times a day and it should help it soften and come out..Best wishes
