If "end" means being destroyed, then that will happen in a couple million years when the sun becomes a red giant and the Earth is eventually engulfed inside the sun. If "end" means all life ending, then that would happen when temperatures soar so high on Earth that life cannot evolve at the same pace as the temperature increase.

Now, there are several theories, and most of them have already been listed: 600 million years (when the sun explodes), or when we use up all of our resources and die (probably the best guess), or when we blow the earth up, some wackadoo (non-denominational) priests think they know because of the shtuff happening today, and the Book of Revelations (and the funny thing is, is when the time passes that they guessed and nothing happens he just makes another guess and the people still believe him, some religous people just leave thier brain at the door of the church) . I may believe in God but I do not believe in the Book of Revelations; because all the stuff written there was not made for our time and does not have any literal meaning to us now or then. The people trying to translate it are just wasting thier time. But my advice to you, don't care. It's probaly not going to happen in your time anyway so stop guessing and start living.

It is needless to know. Our entire life bases on this fact, actually the lack of this fact. Without this main mystery, our existence is useless. This mystery makes the world go round. Only after understanding this can we live a perfect life. In fact, the world for us will end when we die. Of course or descendants will live, but we cannot do anything for the world after we are buried in a tomb. And since we do not know when this world will end, we have to believe, that this will only happen when it is necessary: I mean when our star (Sun) freezes in cold-light, several millions of years in the future. It is an exact prediction. Of course the end can come earlier, much earlier, perhaps tomorrow or 5 seconds after you read this answer. Only hope remained for us. Until we hope, we have a chance to live in this world or in another.

Don't know the exact date but the end will be quite similar to the beginning. Now the question is what was the beginning and the answer is it will be similar to the end.
So you see two oscillating ends.
In fact, our language can' t explain what I am trying to say because it is something created within our system, while beginning and end are derived external to us.
No theory can explain it because they are internal (Not even Big-Bang). The only way out at this time is given by meditation.

The sense of immediacy is caused by theories of the end of the world are to make us value life more, beyond its special and temporal projection. These theories and exercises for the mind making it think what will happen if the world comes to its absolute end one day, what things could be there and beyond. This is invaluable when there a purpose attached to this. Religions for example make people things transcendently, a thinking not only confined within the physical reality of things that exist but also about things that make things exist in our known physical reality; they enable us to see deeper into meanings of life to search for a purpose to our own existence, and things of life; to search for reason for things to be. If we are able to imagine an end to everything, we can break free from the shackles of our mundane realities to realise genuine concerns of our being.
The answer to your question you will not find however hard you may try. You can think and imagine but your thoughts and imagination is what make this world what it is for you. The end of the world in this sense is the end of all thoughts in imagination. And then I think we can get closer to the reality of your question by not thinking about the end of the world, but by contemplating - when will we stop asking this question? I assure you the result of such attempt are mind boggling, just think not about the end of the world, but the and of the question of the end of the world. Here is a paradox for you - the world will end when you will not thnk about its end.

Does it really matter? I mean not to sound pessimistic but... we're all going to die someday. And by "world" do you mean the rotating dirt clod we're on, or perhaps every ounce of existence that ever has been and ever will be? Anyway, back to we're all going to die, if the earth does suddenly split in half or something dramatic like that you'll die fairly quickly so i wouldn't worry about that too much. Once again I don't mean to sound pessimistic, just being realistic.

By world, if you mean planet earth then all life will be snuffed out when the sun goes Supernova, there's a few billion years left for that.
However in human terms the world ends every day for those who die..........poof !! no more perception , feeling or awarenes, Only Oblivion.
