Do you think New York's move to ban the use of the word Niger violates free speech?

I'm all for the word's removal from use but isn't the words banning by law going a little far?

Yes, the law is going too far. Why would a government put a law on a word? How are you going to enforce that? If someone wants to say ****** then let them say it. If they make a law to stop one racist word then imagine all of the other ethnic groups that will want a law for racist words against them. Making a law for this word would violate the first amendment, "freedom of speech".
