Baron von party: Yes I mean the Harley-like bikes. There are a lot of Harley copies. The crotch rockets I've seen haven't been that loud and they are much easier to see due to the bright colors but they also need more lights. Crotch rockets are much faster than any Harley, which may explain the need for the Harley-like noise. What else do they have?

Actually loud pipes make agressive motorcycle drivers... From my personal riding experience I have noticed that it is usually the weekend riders that have loud pipes. It is obnoxious to ride such a bike every day. I ride my bike non stop and do not own a car but I am planning to purchase Vance and Hines pipes soon too. I am planning to keep the baffles on and want to get them to improve the performance on my bike too. If you fellas are mojo enough to ride your loud machines and show off don't be sissies to accept come critique, OK?

First let me clear up something that the first responder said. Bikers wear black leather b/c it's a macho thing...it's more like a safety thing. Thick leather will definitely help you keep your skin in the event that you go down, think about it. I took a motorcycle class and that was the suggested apparel for safety. Maybe some people do it to be macho, but I do it for safety, also it's warmer and windproof in the cooler temps. Should also let you know that I'm a woman. Riding a light colored bike, etc isn't going to protect you from that person who is lost in conversation on their cell while driving. You need to stop generalizing. I wear a full face helmet, have a loud bike, and dare I say it? I even have a light colored jacket for the summer.
Are you just angry at bikers b/c you can't ride one yourself or what??? Seems like you're a tad bit obsessed

I suggest you ignore the questions this guy keeps asking. It's been two days and he keeps rephrasing the same question over and over. Obviously needs attention and that's what we're giving him. I suggest ignoring him and maybe he'll find some other way to find the attention he so desperately and sadly needs.

The sound of a motorcycle, like a Harley, is unmistakable. I live in the LA area and when a motorcycle is trying to pass in the carpool lane and they think that there is not enough room they rev their engine to make their presence known. As for the other precautions it depends on the biker. Black leather is the clothing of the traditional and modern biker. It is a rebellion thing. It dates back to the 1920's. It's a macho thing.

It's like saying a coffee-can muffler tip is for performance, or that racing stripes make your car faster. Ya right!
There *may* be a little bit of truth to the safety factor of loud exhause of bikes, but that's only because they are hard to see. The people that ride hard-to-see vehicles, including bikes, aren't looking for safety, they just want to be noticed...
They claim 'safety' because it's an easy half-truth. They want attention just like the guy in the stock CRX with a glasspack from Jim-Bob's Car Parts - it's not performance, it's not safety, it's not economy - it is all about the attention they get.

After seeing this question ask four times in different ways by Vlasco I decided to take a peek at his profile. With a 6% best answer rate I would say he is about three quarts short in the crankcase.

Most loud HARLEY riders you mean. The loud crotch rocket riders often think they are professional riders and have very garish-looking bikes and leathers on, including helmets that are painted like lizards or op-art.
