No.

Had it been the best equipped country, in terms of resources, it would not have been conquered by Britain.

If it was so rich and glorious, why did it fall to the British?

Think about it. It's very hard to take over another country, especially that far away and of that size, unless you ARE the richer and more powerful of the two.

India kept out Alexander the Great. But it couldn't keep out Britain.

(Bravo on uniting to kick them out!!)

I do think India will become the next United States. I liken today's India to the US about the year 1900 in terms of economic booming and increasing world influence.

Off course India was the richest country untill the british came in. They exploited the country for near about 150 years, and in the year 1947 they left the country with all it's economy devastated.

However India managed to recover. For those who compare India with the west, The history of US is 200 years old (America separated from its colonial sister in the year 1776). While India has a post independence history of just 60 years. Yet India has managed to develop into various fields. Infact, we have become largest suppliers of manpower for the IT sector. Have patience, development cannot take place in a snap...

This I presume is not a think question, it is more like a yes/no question. India was the richest country till Britain invaded it and swiped off all of its precious gems and others. Now does it not bare similarity to a present time event. Now that is a thinking question.
