Generally speaking, guys are not tied to the child like the mother is. A guy can impregnate a female and leave without consequence if the law was not enforced. Women KNOW they are the mother of the baby. Deadbeat dads are more common than deadbeat moms. Although, it's uncommon for guys to whine and complain about deadbeat moms.

Also, depending what state you live in, the law usually sides with the mother.

I think we should have equal opportunity ranting on deadbeat parents, regardless of gender. My husband's ex-wife owes about $85,000 (yep that's right - $85K) in back child support. The last time they talked about it - she told him in no uncertain terms that she doesn't have the money, doesn't intend to get a job and that she has no intention of paying child support.

Wonder what the judge will say when she says that in open court?

We've had custody of the girls for 9 years now. In 9 years, she has seen the girls for approximately three months total. When asked why she doesn't see them more often, she says (1) it isn't a good weekend this weekend, (2) it's too far to drive (about 40 miles one way); (3) how about if I take them next weekend instead, and on and on.

At least one deadbeat mom is alive and well and living in California.

It's not. Whether you're a deadbeat dad or a deadbeat mom, you are a deadbeat. In fact, I would probably be harder on a deadbeat mom. What mom could do that to her child? I think deadbeat dads get more attention because there are more of them.

I'm not sure it's wrong to mention deadbeat mom's but I think the point is that it's more common in men or at least it stands out more. As males we are generally viewed as the dominate gender, as well as the leader of the household. So when we fail to meet our naturally obligation it stands out more than vice versa. It's kind of like when Starbucks makes a bad cup of coffee versus the quicky mart. Of coarse we hold Starbucks to the higher standard.

I think that there are bad moms out there as well. Any parent whether they be female or male who are not taking care that their children have what they need growing up deserve whatever trouble they get. A child needs support and love and it is the parents job no matter the gender to do this.

Most women get custody so there aren't as many of them forced to pay child support. Its not PC so the news does not report it. Many women want custody so they can get that free money of child support, not out of love.

Paternity fraud, unfortunately, is legal in this country. Don't you know that?
