I don't understand why they wouldn't have taken the opportunity to increase the usability of their video hosting?

Dear Aziz,

Google's strategy has been to focus on sponsored links, keywords, integrated search engine solutions for corporates and that is where they generate millions of dollars from. If they start bringing in dozens of features they have onto the home page it will give that Microsoft look to a search engine where person gets distracted by other links , leaving the basic purpose of searching something online and giving away more clicks to Google, Yahoo...
[Windows Live Search is an exception though]

Okey now, Little did search engines realized few years back that they have to come up with searches other than Images, Keywords.

Unlike Youtube, Google could not put video's for search because it wasn't prime source of revenue, when compared to billion of dollars it generates as revenue through sponsored links and advertisements (vastly used for keyword and image search).

Apart from that, you might see that videos are mostly shared online by other users. so the target customer and the recipients are not prescribed by Google, Youtube. they can be from any one to any one.

Time will come when Search engines.. get further in this race and give better solutions on web to literally search anything..let it be video, image, text keyword .. imagine the media type and have it.

-cheers buddy.

Why they didn't do this? Because it's a simple matter of "they didn't think it is useful". Sure it maybe good for you and I, but they think not...and they are the ones running the show.

Maybe write them a message or two and see where you get?
