My question is , should the Han Dynasty led by Han Wu Di back in 300BC +/- had not fallen because of corruption and internal conflict. Would Han China eventually rulled the entire Asia ?
From history books I had picked up a few facts about how the Han influenced Asia and it's developement ... from China to Korea and from Korea to Japan. According to some sources they even traded with the Romans via the Silk Road.
However, the questions remains.... Would Han China had been able to rule or supress the powers of the Romans ? maybe they should make a movie out of this ... would be nice to watch Chinese army vs the Roman Legionaire =) *Looking forward to watch 300 >_

Han dynasty could be said as true "origin" of the chinese civilization mainly because the backbone of chinese culture was formed at the time. And that's when the Han culture spread later to Korea and later to Japan. But it was not Han Wu Di's intention to conquer "westward" but instead to be able to secure and develop the Chinese civilization that was his goal.

You need to take a look at the Silk Road expeditions trips of ancient Han dynasty. The Han dynasty were fighting "the Huns", a group of barbaric nomadic people, that were constantly trying to invade China and Han troops led by general Ban Chao at the time drove them all the way across rigid mountains scapes of central asia and into europe. When they no longer pose threat to the Han dynasty they retrieved eastward and stopped at Caspian sea (because the mission wasn't a conquest to the west but for millitary defense purposes only). They sent diplomats into Rome at the time hoping to establish diplomatic relationships with Roman Empire. The Han representatives later made alliances with the ancient people around the areas of what is modern day iran, iraq, and installed millitary post there. Generals of the Roman empire came to very close distance of this millitary post but never made contact with the chinese there. The Han dynasty knew of Roman empire at the time and appreciated their advancements in technology and culture and wanted to establish commerical and cultural exchange.

China was a civilization. It was Kublai Khan, the Mongolians that wanted to conquer all the way westward into europe.

Well, when you ask questions like this, we can only imagine. No serious historians can offer any real answer. History is history. A similar question would be what if the Europeans didn't discover America? Will the Native Americans migrate to Europe. Questions like this sounds funny. If the Han China didn't fall, what would happen between China and Northern barbarians ? They were the real threats to China throughout those centuries. Given the fact that there were several big deserts lying between China and Rome, they simply couldn't meet. Well, on the movie screen probably it would be fun. The little greys are already here.

Look at the Asia geography map, between Arabia and chang'an(the capital of han, now its name is xi'an), more than 5000km, most of the land is desert, high mountain. and in that time, there are a few people and cities. the limit of army can arrive is Afghanistan, and Alexander Macedon did it. After that they can’t across the pamir altiplano. and the desert in west of china. And that time, han dynasty had a standing army, whose number is more than 200,0000. all the same with Romans. Another thing, they knew less of each other.
geography is a brother of history.

i got high expectation for 300. Rated R so there will be no kids.

well aside from the first guy's comment which is really good, it will be fun to speculate.

wells its very unlikely that the Romans would even get close to china.
they would have to pass the middle east. an area which they were never fully able to conquer. Although the roman military machine is almost unstoppable on open land they are sitting duck in the desert and very respectable to mass mounted horseman (especially with arrows). and i wont ever get into India and elephants and Tibet with its huge mountain barriers.

I'm a big fan of army movies (troy, last samurai, opening scene of gladiator, kingdom of heaven). i definitely see potential in a movie with something like people from curse of the golden flower and gladiator.
