Because it's a series, not just random shows like Unsolved Mysteries or something. They have the same main characters to make the show more personable, so you "know" the characters and watch the show more. it's the same for pretty much any show nowadays- Lost, CSI (any of them), Prison Break, Nip/Tuck, etc. I like it better that way.

This is mostly due to the length of Law & Order's run and its constant need for new actors. You'll find the similarity in almost any show on television. Because Law & Order has been going for over a decade, and it needs 10-15 new actors for every episode, with only a few a season being established stars, it constantly needs new actors and actresses. So this is where lots of actors get their start in television.

Because Oz was such a huge success! It had so many great actors in it, they now are in all the good shows and movies to. There was alot of new talent on Oz that's for sure. Such a controversial show and it became a hit! I miss Oz it was awesome and oh so realistic! I would never want to go to prison!

Because they are all good actors and OZ was filmed alot in New York also...
