When ever you watch television shows, and/or old movies, they always say "and no anchovies" for a pizza being ordered. I'm 41, and can't ever remember even seeing this item listed as an option, for Pizza? Am I missing something? In New York, or Chicago, is this an option?

Anchovies have been an option for many years, only the chain places like Dominoes, Pizza Hut, etc don't include them as they aren't preferred on the cookie cutter menu. Most places can add them if requested.
Larger cities and in other countries, where there is a more diverse culture option, you see them quite regularly.

Have you ever ordered a Cesar salad? If so the dressing has pureed anchovies, if made with the traditional way.

I live in Pensacola, Florida-which isn't that big..and EVERY pizza place here has anchovies as a topping. I've never seen anybody order them though. Anchovies are good in Caesar dressing.

In Australia we used to get them on supreme pizza as standard so you had to say "no anchovies" when you ordered if you didn 't want them.
Now you have to ask for them and pay extra.

I am older than you and I ate (and still eat) them on my pizzas. Originally combination pizzas on the West Coast used to come with them on unless you said to hold them (back in the day). Eventually combination pizzas did not have them unless you asked for them (like since 1985). I know at least two chains here and many small one-off restaurants where you can still get them, and not just on combos.

I think it is an option in the bigger cities. I remember my stepdad put them on a homemade pizza for us kids and my sister puked. LOL.

I had it. I regret it. It was way too fishy. A little might taste good, but if you see it on your pizza, its way too much.
