What looks empty to most people isn't always the case as the saying goes you don't know what goes on behind closed doors? Some couples lose it for a while but sometimes the old spark re-ignites and boom they spice it up marriage or long term relationships are like every day life it takes work, understanding and trust :)

I believe that some people stay in empty-shell marriages because even though it may not be the best, they may be scared to be alone or appear to be a failure in the eyes of others.

Some people are just dumb. They have lied to themselves for so long saying that they are in love that they have started to believe it even though it may not be true. Or maybe they are scared to be in the dating scene again, or just scared of being alone again untill they meet someone else. Either way I think people in empty shell marriages are dumb.

Because they believe in commitment. A better question would be, "why don't people work on their 'empty-shell' marriages?" Answer? Too many people don't realise that happiness takes dedication and doesn't just happen.

There can be dozens of reasons. Maybe they don't want to cause an abrupt change in their kids lives. If they get along well, but just don't have feelings for each other, why hurt the kids? Or maybe neither of them are willing to adjust their style of life, and staying married provides them with what they're used to? Or, maybe they are afraid of being alone. As you get older, it often gets harder to find romance. Fear of rejection is a huge ordeal. There are just too many plausible reasons.

Because they are desperate and affraid to be alone. They are weak in every possible way. If there gonna stay then they deserve what they get. Marriage is for loosers!
