Keep in mind that the Mayans in the calendar had many things right on the money to the date.

The sun will reach solar maximum in 2012. Right now it's at the minimum of it's 11 year sunspot cycle. When it reaches solar maximum again in 2012, its magnetic poles will flip. If anything catastrophic happens on 2102 because of the Mayan calendar, it might be that the sun's magnetic pole flip will trigger the earth's pole to flip also. Since the earth's pole flips every few hundred thousand years, and it's due for another one, it's possible the earth's magnetic pole is weakening and will be more vunerable to ouside forces in 2102 than it is normally. When it does flip, there is temporarily no shield from the sun's radiation until it reestablishes itself. The climate can also be effected in some unpredictable way.

I KNOW that the calendar doesn't end. That's a fact, not a theory. Which means any theories based on it ending are false.
2012 is an energetic change, it's already happening, and there's nothing to be afraid of. All the hype is coming from people who live in fear and crave drama.
