Yes they do.

It happened to me. She used to be such a close friend. But she got jealous of me so she said some REALLY mean things about me behind my back. She also said things to me online... but never in person. In person, she acted like a totally different person.

Jealous people are insane. Just laugh about it and enjoy being flattered that someone is actually jealous of you.

:D

Insecure, control- freak types will. They can be the perfect bullies, capable of using seemingly harmless gossip to negatively influence other's opinions- others who fall into that trap. In my experience, they also avoid any kind of confrontation, especially honest, productive questioning, and they don't apologize to people- it is too threatening to admit anything less than perfection.

In other words, it is more important for them to be right than for them to be kind.

Even if it's not jealousy, but feeling threatened for reasons of their own.
A truly confident, secure person neither flaunts it nor undermines others.

Confidence is what makes someone sexy- look at the character "Horatio" on Miami CSI.
He is skinny, older, and pretty much like everyone else. If he played an insecure character, I guarantee he'd be the least liked one on that show. He can pull it off because he has confidence for real life, and plays a character written as a confident person.

Just some thoughts.

Only very insecure small minded people do this. Of course 'jealous' people are kind of scary. To be 'jealous' is to want what someone else has. For example: I want her husband.
These are the kind of people who commit crimes to get what they want. I would totally avoid this type of personality.
But to be merely envious would be: I wish I had a husband like hers.
Usually when I am envious of someone, it's because I admire something about them that I don't possess myself and it makes me want to befriend them more than put them down.

Beware of the green eye monster. Yes they talk about you and put you down, just because they are jealous. You do not have to do any thing and what ever you do right or wrong they will go agents you.

well, yes and no. some people are just really mean, and wil put you down because it makes them feel better, but then sometimes people will put you down because they ARE indeed jealous of you. So it really depends and sometimes you never really know.

No!
It would only mean that you have the thing that they don't have and that made them feel insecure or jealous.

oh,without a doubt......they are trying to make themselves feel better by making it seem like "he's/she's not that great",or "your not all that(which could be in a lot of wayz) and while they are trying to look down on you they are trying to make you look down on yourself too and get you to think "hey, maybe they're right I'm not all that I appear to to cracked up to be."
