I'm not sure if this is the correct translation, but it might point you in the right direction:
At the N.A.ME.S website, I found a quote..."Or Araya, meaning civilisation." This quote is under the subheading of Ethnic Names: Thai.
I looked up the word "civilized" at Thai-Language.com, and a transliteration popped up for "aa-ra-ya", which means "civilized; good; righteous; prosperous; honorable; developed."

Araya is an Amharic word and if someone says to you " you are arya!" it means that you are a good example to other people.

Well, the word is only the name of a village in Venezuela's northern Caribbean coast. There were fortress's where the people of the town defended themselves against Caribbean pirates.
I have found no other relation to the word except in people's names.
