if not batts., then possibly moisture or little crawling beasties.

Is it the old kind that is wired to the electric system? If yes, you need a new smoke alarm.

Probably needs new batteries or a smoulding fire somewhere.You don't nessecarily have to have a flame to set off a smoke detector.

More than likely the battery.
If yours is NOT battery operated (hard wired), then it's basically just malfunctioning.
