If they want them, sure. All you can do is try, right? I say go for it.

You might be able to sell them to a newspaper or television station. but be careful. If you have pictures of people rather than just debris and vehicles, you might be liable for being sued if you use it without some permission. It is a murky area of rights of privacy, and some newspapers will not use the photos for that reason. You should call and get their input about photographing car crashes, etc.
Also, be aware you can't go onto private property without permission of the owner. Some police may exclude you from a crash scene, or put up police lines, and you cannot enter those lines, because they are part of a crime scene or an accident investigation. If you violate those rules, or disobey an officer, you are subject to arrest.

John B............ What you wrote above is not true......... You do not need any kind of permission at all... I am a former newspaper photographer and am very familar with the rules.... What you say about the police keeping you away ( a privite citizen, and not a newspaper photog) is true....
Just look at TV news report that shows the victims... Names are received from the police reports, which are public .....

Newspapers are usually not that interested unless someone of interest (Paris Hilton for example) was in the crash. You can try, but don't expect much. And an hour after the crash, you are already too late.

What you would have to do is contact them personally first & it would have to be almost immediatley before anyone else does to be worth anything.
They will tell you wether or not they are interested.
If they are, you can bargain your price.
