How common is it for a woman to loose her sex drive after menopause? We have been happily married for 39 years and until a couple of years ago had a health sex life. Don't tell me to be more romantic or to try foreplay because they don't work. She is just not interested in sex any more. I don't know if this is normal or not. If it is then I will not pursue the matter any further however if there is something that can be done then that would be great. Has anyone got any suggestions? I'm sick of having sex by myself and besides I don't find myself that sexy. I have tried putting on some soft music. Turning down the light and pouring a couple of glasses of champagne however what usually happens is I end up throwing my hand in bed and diving on top.

I wanted a divorce so that my husband could remarry a younger woman so that reproduction would continue...it was a primal instinct. For myself, menopause was no less than hell... my skin hurt to be touched and I felt bugs crawling on me, insomnia, rage attacks, and so much more. Nightmare on Elm Street was a picnic. Your wife may be going through a difficult time and sex isn't on the menu with hormones reaching up to 13 times normal...her body is being overwhelmed trying to process the extra hormones. Right now it's too soon to say if she will want to make love or not after menopause. Now that I'm over two years without a period, I can tell you sex has new meanings and lubricant has become part of the shopping list. Try to just hold her with no intentions of sex, read the "Pause" there is a wonderful chapter on giving support to your wife and to you as well. Talking can be a stimulant and so is patience and time. Hormone replacement may help. Good luck and try not to get carpal tunnel.

First, I am nowhere near going through menopause. However I do work on a theatre show about menopause, and according to it and the women who watch it, yes they still have a sex drive. Which honestly isn't something I really needed to know. But they do, just realised they've gone through the change so their sex drive might have changed a little, they might like something different. There is still that drive though, and this is according to the little old ladies that have been telling me for the past 6 months

so shut the HELL UP.. they think I am fiesty.. but I am enjoying my life...

She should not change at all. But she may get dry. The solution it to use baby oil for lubrication so that it does not hurt.Also she may have started to take medicines that affect her like oral medicines for diabetes or depression. If so she can stop the medicine the day you intend to mate, but of course with some adaptation like limiting starches and sweets in case of diabetes.

Your wife needs to discuss her problem with her doctor. It's probably a chemical / hormonal thing and can be corrected. I have to attack my hand sometimes too.

try to get her to use the estrogen patch, I do, havent found a man who can keep up with me. oh well,
