squamous are flat, cuboidal are cube like, columnar are like skinny rectangles. then they can be in single layers(simple) or multiple layers(stratified) then their are the exceptions to the rules: transitional epithelium is found i nthe bladder and ureter and can look domelike when not distended or squamous when stretched. also pseudostratified epithelium looks like layers but is not and usually has cilia on the open surface found in the respitory tract and in the fallopian tubes.
