i'm a malaysian student coming to india next month.i will be studying in salem india. what's the best mobile service provider? and also with the cheapest rate? i will need to make many international calls back home and also send messages.

The best mobile provider with cheapest rate is BSNL Cellone or else you can choose Bharti's Airtel for international calls

AirTel is best in terms of coverage area. Hutch is a distand second.
I hope that there is another option than AirTel also. Their customer service isn't all that good. At one point they cheated Rs. 180 from me. When questioned their answer was "... sorry sir. Can you let go the sum? There is nothing I can do." How candid!!

i would recommend hutch, its the best in terms of coverage and quality.
if you are looking for gprs service on ur phone then airtel will be very economical.
and bsnl for cheap calling rates.
there are some cdma service providers like reliance and tata but would instruct you to avoid them.
ya there is prepaid service available here.
