Hi, since you just had your period then I'm sure you are not pregnant and the mucus is not a sign of pregnancy. Just my humble opinion. You may need to check with doctor to confirm, just in case you are the "lucky" one in the millions.
The mucus could be discharge from your vagina. Well, actually, if you feel "aroused" during that time, you vagina will also produce moisture...so, I feel that, it is normal reaction of your vagina to produce mucus as part of its cleansing process and make you feel comfortable...

A woman's cervix is protected by mucus, and it's normal for the body to expel it some time in the course of a monthly cycle. The mucus helps sperm stay alive after ejaculation so they can make it all the way up the uterus and into the fallopian tubes to find an egg. Usually the mucus is expelled after you've ovulated and after your body determines that it isn't pregnant, because then the sperm don't need the mucus anymore and your body can prepare to have a period because your eggs weren't fertilized. If you think you're pregnant, take a test.

So many factors come into this: age, weight, lifestyle, your personal cycle ... If you have any doubt you should see an OB/GYN.
I was always fairly regular, but don't remember spotting a whole week before the flow - usually just a day or two. I did occasionally pass mucous. This sounds normal as someone young enough to be menstruating should have mucous present in the 'private' area.
