When I look at an animal, I just kinda "feel" the names come into my mind for them. I know that sounds so weird. But, I have a knack for picking names that really suit the animal.
My minpin's name is Manchester. He is a little chocolate brown one. We've shortened his name down to Chester....lol And, you know.....now that I think of it....his coat is the color or chestnuts.
I just am sooo weird. lol I weird myself out. But, how the names I pick come to me.....I can't explain. They just fit!

With having to come up with names for over 100 animals over my time, we got greative. Some were named for behavior, some for opposite colors, some for their color pattern, some got names from baby books. Our last rescue, a rabbit named Smokey, got renamed Asphalt because of how much asphalt we drove on to get him (over an hours drive one way). Some pets got their names from Pokemon characters. We got a couple of rats and named them Salem (name of orginal town where we live) and Sabrina (just went with Salem on a tv show), we also named a hamster rescued that same night Harvey (went with Sabrina from tv show). We presently have 55 - 2 and 4 legged animals and 6 fish (not all named yet). Karnie came from a carnival as a game prize. KitKat is black with a spot of chocolate brown rabbit. Zapper liked getting zapped by an electric fence, Crazy Daisy after the crazy daisy water sprinkler. Alcatraz the hamster was an escape artist. Taz, Nibbles and Nippy all are biters (Russian dwarf hamsters). Psycho is a abused hamster that would scream like a nut case. Blizzard and Salty are both white Russian dwarfs. I know you get the idea now. It would take up too much time to tell you about the names and why or how they got them. My dog, Blaze (a recent rescue), for his color needs out NOW!

Schizo is a cat. She was just a kitten when I went to make my choice of the litter. She had brothers and sisters everywhere! I took one look at her and the lady said, "I call that one Angel." I went to pick her up and she flew across the room, running wildly. The lady said, "She does that to everyone, you'll be lucky if you can catch her-she may have to stay and end up one of my outdoor kitties." I thought, no way! I cornered her and caught her. She tried her best to get away from me. The lady said, "Watch out! She's a little schitzy." And I took one look at her and said, "No more Angel, say hello to Schizo!". She has been my pride and joy since. For six years now she has been my best owner! HA!

I won't even attempt to explain MOSTof my cats names except for one that everyone seem to be fascinated with even the vet because when he was just a tiny kitten he was mean....People that just met him thought his name was cute but ....I told my husband a cat needed an unusual name that seemed to fit his personality...He attacked ankles hands EVERYTHING and we were having a hard time about his name...We noticed everytime we said Dammit He was there in an instant...I told my husband we will not name the cat Dammit...so I went for clever...DAMEW was ...not damn you..DAMEW. He lived to be 17 and the stories are endless..... He also loved strawberry Dacquaires(MSP) I know this because I busted him more than once sampling from the blender...lol

When we got our dog I didn't know what to name him, well a co-worker came over and when I said his name the dog's ear perked up so that how Jake got him name.
When I got my other dog I had a name picked out that would work for a male or female so that's how Jesse got his name.
My hamster ( 2 years old) still doesn't have a name

Bravo was already named when we got her- a retired racing hound.
Pan was named by my son who was in the 7th grade and reading Greek mythology when we got her. Pan is the half-goat half-man guy.
Nala was named after the female lion cub in The Lion King.
Yoda was only 4 weeks old when we got him as a tiny kitten (not our choice to adopt that young- he was in animal control and I rescued him- his family was already gone.) His ears still tipped down at the tips and when he grinned he looked like Yoda. His full name is Yoda Man.
Shake is a parrot and he got his name because when he was a baby and you'd pick him up he would shake from his head to his tail- a comfortable sign in a parrot.
Angel is a budgie (parakeet) who is named because he is a very pale, pale blue with grey stripes and looks like he belongs in the clouds.
Scooby is our other budgie who was named by my cousin's grandchildren- we adopted her,

Relax, have a few...
BA 2yr old black cat had since before birth. 9 black kittens in that litter and he would at day 2 back away and hiss at EVERYONE, so he is Bad A** or Attitude however you choose. Original momma's baby.
INSANE 2yr old black brother to BA, same litter, was placed with my son, who named him, when son moved, mom inherited cat, the name fits, he is crazy, and much loved.
BELTANIA was BELTANE until her true gender was discovered, 1 1/2 yr old black cat, fuzzy tail~bad attitude. A momma's baby.
LIL' MAN 4yr grey tabby tuxedo that came with boyfriend, who out weighs the other cats by at least 4 lbs, I guess at one time he was little?
GEORGIA a 4 mo old JRTmix that stumbled into our yard when she was too young to be from her momma, couldn't find where she came from, fell in love with her, pledged her into the family, well both humans agreed on her and 2 out of 4 cats voted her in.
The name oh yeah, we live in GA, we found her in GA.

Have 3 pets:
1) Oona the orange tabby.....named her this for 2 reasons, firstly its after Oona the sprite in the movie Legend w tom Cruise, shes just as spitefull & cute & also because the actual meaning of the name is "One" & she is FOR SURE one of a kind
2) Abbey the pug, named her this simply because I like the name & its fits her face
3) Jaws the goldfish, got his name per the decorative sign in his bowl that says "BEWARE OF JAWS" thought it fitting that his name be Jaws since it says to Beware of it in HIS bowl
