it was called the trails of tears because the people who were on this journey literally cried.
All the Indians who originally occupied the southern states were repeatably given unfair treaty by the US government and settlers who wanted their land. In 1830, they were led by land and boat to Oklahoma territory. During the journey they were harassed by the US army. Instance of men getting beat up and women getting molested or worst. And if that wasn't enough Oklahoma territory was thought to be a desert and unfit for humans to live in.
I be crying if i had to leave my land that my ancestor had live for centuries and seeing less than half the people who were originally on the trail making it to Oklahoma alive.
but now i be laughing that i took your money.

It is called the trail of tears because it was the genocide of a culture and race. They cried the same way a bunch of Jews (no offense) cried getting hauled off to concentration camps. Did you think it was a day hike in the sun?
