I'm thinking more in terms of professionally (there are too many good college baskertball teams to chose from)
In my opinion the best basketball team ever, would have to be the 1992 Dream Team. every team they played they killed them!.
Of course I do realize if they played today they would be facing a lot better competition, with so many foreign players in the NBA.
but still with a team with Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Micheal Jordan, Karl Malone, Chris Mullin and so on, would compete!

If I have to hear one more time how the Bulls went 72-10 im gonna throw up...they had no competition in those days like the Laker Celtic 80s...we are talking about teams that could actually win titles and were always deep in the playoffs not just get one playoff appearance and never show up again...there were Docs 76ers who swept thru the playoffs, the Magic Lakers, the Bird Celtics, and Isiahs Pistons, and before those teams got old they schooled Mikes teams for years until coach Jackson got the team to play in a system that featured movement and isolation to give 3 point shooters good opportunities and one on one matchups with Jordan and Pippen with only weak side defensive help...who did MJs teams have to beat , the Knicks? Utah? puhleeze....

When I read your question, I had thought you meant 'regular season' teams. Sure, the Dream Team had superstars (hence, the name) but they would be no better than any of the All Star starting teams. And if we go that route (just any team), then the Harlem Globetrotters would head the list. But in regular season, in spite of how great the Mavs are doing this year, the Chicago Bulls team from the mid-90s (96?) had a record of 72-10! That particular team had Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippin and Dennis Rodman. Wow! That's my choice!!

The 1992 team had the MJ, fowl, and Magic, the three maximum excellent gamers and the three maximum excellent opposition interior the history of the NBA. there is not any longer a single participant in this team who's everywhere on the brink of those 3 adult men.
