how do they pierce your lip?

im going in to get my bottom left lip pierced. so they use a gun or a needle.

its a needle. i had mine done. 14 or 16 gauge usually. they stab the needle through, slide the jewelry in as they slide the needle out. painful, but not as bad as a nose or belly button piercing.
