If you break a house key in half,can a locksmith make a new one from those parts?Please,serious responses.

Yes they can. go to a company that deals only with locks and keys. dont go to a box store like homedepot.

Yes, it is possible. A basic lock cylinder is builded of 5-20 layers. What the smith will do, is tear the cylinder layers surround the key, take the broken key off, and build the layers back to cylinder again.

The work takes from 0,5 hour to 1 hour, so the cost should not be more than 50 dollars per lock, plus the fee that he takes for coming to your home and screw the lock off and assemble back. all together maybe 100-150 dollars

Yes, go to your local locksmith, if they can't use the key they have a code book to cut it...........
