Steven H - Congress funds the war. If they want to stop the war, they can stop the funding. Don't believe there is nothing they can do.

I believe the Democrats will take definitive action and it will involve funding. The problem is being sure no funding cuts affect the troops already in Iraq - that's the prime concern when cutting funds. As long as they do that, they'll be fine. But they'll be walking through a minefield and they know it.

If they flail about and nothing get accomplished, I have to say it won't change my mind about voting in a Democratic President. I think a lot of people will be grumbling, but rightly or wrongly, they will assume Congress had it's hands tied by Bush and Cheney and they'll go the extra mile to get a Democratic into the Oval Office. If Iraq is still in chaos it will be a slam dunk for the Democrats, no matter what action or inaction they have taken. Many moderates, the key voters, are disgusted with the Republicans over more matters than the war. It's a combination of all sorts of factors - the war, inaction on immigration, border and port security, the threat of Iran and the fear that this President will screw up there as badly as he has in Iraq, middle class economics, nothing but lip service to the environment problem, inaction from Republicans on trying to fix a badly broken health care system, etc. The list goes on and on. I really think the Republicans don't have a shot in Hades of taking the White House in 2008. Something really bizarre would have to happen - but it wouldn't be the first time, politics is nothing if not mercurial.

I would NEVER vote for a Democrat. Speaking as a military wife, all they will do is put our servicemen and women more at risk. If you talk to the majority of the servicemen and women they are proud of the job they are doing, and they want to finish the job. The American military does not believe in doing a half @$$ed job. And if you think this war is terrible, look at the deaths we sustained in WWII, do you think that was not worth it? Would the world have been better with Hilter running the show? Pull your heads out. War is not pretty, war is not prefered, but sometimes it is necessary. Go visit with some of the Iraqi people who for the first time are able to participate in voting, attend school, women who can now be doctors, lawyers, politicians, and not worry about family members being murdered because they did not agree with Saddam. We step out now, 4, 5, 6 years from now someone worse could be running Iraq and then just wait to see the mess we have. And of course, you Democrats will be the first ones complaining that it wasn't resolved the first time. Maybe Clinton should have taken care of the terrorists during his "reign".

God Bless our Military men and women! ( of course I probably offended the Democrats/liberals by saying God Bless)

I could vote for the Democrat because as we've seen recently the Republicans are trying everything in their power to be uncooperative. Bush would just veto any legislation that would pass regarding pulling out troops. They can protest, try to cut funding but the fact is that Bush is in charge of the war and come hell or high water he is going to have his war.

I agree with the first answerer.

As far as I'm concerned we can have a democrat congress do nothing but a democrat president bring peace to the middle east.

Just like we could have a dumbass president who's republican then get a good one that fixes everything.

It's a personal thing, not a party thing. (usually)

They had better come up with some heavy compensation if they don't. What they could do, to make up for not doing something to end this war, is beyond me. It was tacitly understood that they were elected to Congress to end this war. If they don't I will be very upset.

It's a good question! I visited Hilary in person to protest her vote for Bush's fake war - and Im REALLY offended by her and other Democrats who want to pretend they were lied to by bush. If ordinary people LIKE ME knew he was lying his **** off, SHE did, too. Give me a royal break.

NOTHING EVER CHANGES WITH REGARD TO FOREIGN POLICy with either party!!! One side starts the wars (lying to do so) and the other side PROPS THE EFFORT UP!! Makes me puke.

THEY ARE THE SAME: Drunk on power, in love with militarism or helpless to stop it.

EITHER WAY, I will vote for my dog. She would do FAR less damage to the world.

No .The Democrats in office now-and those trying to get there are more concerned with America's popularity , than they are dedicated to our national security . The Democrats are trying to make the United States a Communist country . It's evident across the board . Leading Democrats like Kerry & Clinton slander America and side with foreign critics ( some Communist ) who slam the U.S. ..Spokesmouths are paid to praise Castro while liberal senators talk about how wonderful Cuba is ..If it's so great , why don't they build one of their mansions in Cuba & make the move ?

I have to say it will all depend on the candidates running. For some reason I think this might be an election for a non-frontrunning party meaning not democrat or republican. I personally think its time to rethink both parties and really look at the candidates.

well... the key thing is... who else am I going to vote for?

nader? hahaha...

the war is an issue with me... but it's not the only issue with me... and frankly, not my top issue...

so, yes...I could... it's a long ways away, but I'm not going to say "no" now... with no idea what is going to happen between now and then...
