Thanks for answering, YoMera! From outside, I have to say that there seems to be enormous pressure upon people there to take sides, so I can see how they might feel united against both external contenders, not only one. In fairness, aren't they a state unto themselves, in many ways? It's a unique situation. Millions wish them well, of course, but how to enter into what's best and not offend is difficult. Again, I really appreciate your reasoned answer.

Perhaps some but definitely not all. If that were the case, there would be no resistance to the British occupation of Northern Ireland.
