Best afternoon show
Mac King - Harrah's - If you're a first time sign up for the Harrah's "Total Rewards" slot club, they will give you 2 tickets. They also pass out 2-4-1 coupons at the booth in the carnaval court next to Harrah's.

This place has it all. There are all sorts of things to see here. Of course see the hotels:
Belagio: Botanical gardens change every season and the water fountains outside the hotel. There is also a small chocolate fountain that claims to be the largest in the world (outstanding deserts)
Wynn: This place is not as huge (casino/shopping wise) but elegant. They have a new show called Spamalot and Le Reve (which is stunning)
Rio: Prince does high priced shows which I hear are a must see, they also have a great club at the top called Voodo (besides stratusphere, best view of the Las Vegas strip).
Mandalay Bay: Contains the House of Blues with great shows all the time
Treasure Island: Sirins show (pirate show) in the front of the hotel
Freemont street: 3 block overhead screen with free shows every hour on the hour.
Fashion Show mall: pretty huge mall across from the Wynn hotel, if your a shopper, spend some time there.
Red Rock Casino (it's just a laid back place)
Stratosphere: Top of Stratosphere and rides on top, if it's not too cold.
Food:
Prime, Olives or Spago in Belagio
House of Blues Rest. in the Mandalay Bay
Buffett @ Wynn, Treasure Island, Stratosphere, Orleans, Red Rock aornd Belagio
Others, I'm not too sure of, food is pretty expensive if you want to eat well.
Park:
Red Rock National Park
Shows:
Love @ Mirage
Spamalot and Le Reve @ Wynn
O @ Belagio
Zoomanity @ New York New York
House of Blues @ Mandalay Bay
Garden Arenas @ MGM
The Joint @ Hard Rock Hotel
Bite @ Stratosphere
Blue Man Group @ Venetian
Always some type of show @ the Luxar (shaped like a pyramid)
These are just my favorite things.
Good Luck

For a nostalgic sort of experience, you could see the old area of Vegas. Caesar's Palace is a must-see - It's quite famous and nice to see. As far as hotels/casinos, I liked the Bellagio in particular - It's beautiful. Check out the Vegas website...There's lots of information there for all sorts of visitors or those interested in visiting.

I like the Fremont Street Experience, the sports book at The Plaza, and keno at Sam's Town. But when you go to Vegas, you must see the Fremont Street Experience. Great town to visit.

There is no #1 place, but I would highly recommend touring the popular hotels (Bellagio, Venice, New York, Paris, Caesar's Palace), just to see how lavish and extravagant they are!!!!

New Year's Eve on the strip. Here's a tip though, stay in one of the hotels on the strip as traffic (pedestrian and car) is a bear.
