I believe it was either John Sebastian (and the Lovin' Spoonful) who performed at the college I attended when I lived in New Jersey, or Gordon Lightfoot in New York.
It was around the same time-- many many years ago. haha.
The most recent concert I went to was Three Dog Night --and even though they qualify for AARP (hey wait a minute--so do I ) they still sound awesome !!

my parents took me to see Tommy James and the Shondells at a fair or something when I was about 12....
My first "actual" concert was no better....I saw the New Kids on the Block when I was 15.
