DONT DROP OUT!! DONT DO IT!!!! its free, its part of your day already...stick it out and try your best, don't turn your high school diploma into a life-long task or something you have to pursue with more time and money in the future...not to mention, i guess, the legal aspects...

I have a lot of experience in this area. I have watched those who dropped out of high school because of money or others reason, with the thought that they would just pick it back up at night school for their GED. 9 out of 10 don't come back. This is the start of your life. You may not think it is anything important now but every job you go to they will ask if you graduated. You may be one of the lucky one and write GED. Trust me on this. That is great but not the same. Go first class not second class. You will be asked why you didn't finish regular school every time. Once you finish High School with a High school diploma you will know that you can finish any job and do it right. If you go on to college, another big step, you will then see your chance to improve how you live the rest of your life, with the opportunities that will come you way. Each step leads you up the path to a chance at a much better light. Fry cook or owner of the Store. It may look hard now, but it will only get harder later if you make the wrong decision. I don't care who you make proud. However I do care that you are proud of yourself for what you can do.

I graduated early and moved right into college at age 17.
I missed out on a lot of my social events in my senior yr.
I was banned from going.
*that was 30 years ago*
I don't regret going to college, but I do wish I had graduated with my class. I had only 4 months left to go.
I cannot tell you what to do.
But, do consider finishing out the year, if not for you,
your friends, family and the events school might have,
even if you think they are dumb.....they will be the memeories
that you will always wonder about.

High school sucks. It always has, it always will. BUT, just stick it out, do the best that you can do and get your real high school diploma. A GED or something else from an adult school won't help you with anything and in some cases will only hurt you. Screw all the jerks you go to school with and just finish up what you need to get done and get out of there. Get ready to go to Junior College. Believe me....college is awesome, even if you only start off by going to junior college. Really. Been there and done that. In high school I never got above a 1.15 GPA and graduated, barely, with my high school class. I ended up taking 7 classes my junior and senior year and two periods of independent study to make up for all the F's I got in other classes. It was cool as hell to actually get my diploma on graduation day. I swore off school after high school and only worked full time. I finally went back to school when I was almost 24 years old and went to Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, CA. Awesome school. Most of the professors went to Harvard themselves, but it was just a junior college. California has the best junior college and university system in the country. So depending on where you live, take a field trip with your mom or an adult that you like and go check out the college in your area. You will be impressed, believe me. That trip will motivate you to get the hell out of high school the right way and into college. Don't throw your future away for some stupid little job you have now. The money you make now is a lot now, but nothing when you are a real adult out of school trying to live on your own. After two years of JC transfer to another cool university and get your BA or BS degree after you get your AA from the other college. You will be stoked in a few years to know you could do this after asking a question like this one. I graduated from Notre Dame with honors if that helps any. High school does not determine your future. It is just a crappy road block they throw at people during puberty. Good luck.

I dropped out of highschool for 2 motives ... i replaced into BORED stupid (i replaced into way too clever) and that i had a dysfunctional kinfolk and that i ran faraway from domicile. Please permit me permit you be responsive to that i'm no longer 'uneducated' ... i've got not got a intense college degree or a GED, yet I also have a Bachelor's of technology, a grasp's of technology and a PhD in Psychology. I went to varsity in a state the place absolutely everyone could desire to bypass to a state college in the event that they have been over 21 while they utilized ... teenagers drop out of highschool for many distinctive motives ... some are into gangs and doing drugs, some are bored, some get pregnant or could desire to marry and help a pregnant lady, others do exactly no longer care, some have dysfunctional families and could run away to stay to tell the tale ...

go to school, you'll be an adult soon enough...it's not as fun as it looks...and, later on in life, you'll be able to keep your kids in school by saying, "I did it too!" I dropped out 1st semester of my senior year, couldn't get up, working managing the night shift of a fast food chain...wish i would've graduated...i have a GED and even went on to college later in life but it was very hard because i HAD to work full time then because i was on my own and maybe you are now but still all the reunion notices, etc...you will not get them...you will never be a high school graduate if you quit...you'll have a general equivancy diploma, not a high school graduate diploma...think about what you'll tell your own teenagers when you have them but it will be hard top imagine at 17 he experiences (good or bad) that your life will take you to between now and then...better safe than sorry...all three of my children graduated from high school.

You may as well graduate. You could always drop out and get your GED, but a high school diploma is going to look better while trying to get a job. Besides, I'm in college now, and looking back, I didn't know how much I actually enjoyed high school at the time, but now I miss it. Live it up while you have minimal responsibilities.

Well let's analyze this... You are thinking of dropping out of school for what reason? If it's the job, then you really need to think about this most employers don't care about the people working for them, you are expendable, meaning they don't care what happens to you you can be replaced easily. If you stay in school you'll have better chances of being able to get a better job because let me tell you, I have friends who have dropped out of school and are now stuck living with their parents because they can't get a job because most people won't hire them although they are hard workers just because they don't have that diploma. You'll be able to go farther in life with a diploma than without. You can't go to college without one, let alone get a decent job. Plus people will criticize you for dropping out citing that you must have been too stupid or done something stupid that you decided to drop out. Trust me you seem smart enough to stay in school I know it'll be a challenge right now but if you drop out it will haunt you for the rest of your life. At least finish high school and then take it from there, you'll be much better off doing that then selling yourself short. I hope that you'll consider this and I hope that I have helped you some. weigh all your options completely and don't do this for the wrong reasons.

Well, I don't know about California, but here in Texas you have to have a diploma or a GED just to work at McDonalds. If you are 17 you are close to being done anyway, you should just tough it out. You really wanna be working where you are now for the next 40 years?

Stay. Graduate. It's only another year. Employers don't really take GEDs that seriously. Highschool is considered a basic accomplishment for those who can go to school. People don't think much of you if you can't handle the basic accomplishment.
If you drop out, how would you be able to convince your kids not to?
Stay -- it's just a year.
