everytime i get in my car some idiot trys tail gating me,
most of the time i speed up but i end up breaking the speed limit which i'm worried about because i dont want to get fined over something as stupid as that.
it's pretty much unavoidable and i'm getting sick of it
what do ya do?

2. Slam on your brakes if they hit you, say didnt you see that cat run out on the road

I am with you. I have been in 4 rear-end car accidents because of tail-gaters and can't work anymore because of them. Tailgaters are irresponsible and selfish and I know you agree with me in feeling that they should lose their privilege of driving.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration believes you should follow these steps when encountering a tail-gater:
Pay Attention.
Be ready and willing to move out of the way. This rule will eliminate tailgaters, at least for you.
Be willing to speed up to create a clearance. Your job is not to block tailgaters. Creating a problem for tailgaters by slowing down creates a problem for other responsible drivers behind you.
Do not use hand jesters. By using them you will most likely only close the gap between your rear bumper and their front.
Do not brake. Tempting, but really the best thing to do is just simply move out of the way. You will forget him, and braking only enrages them.
These other tips are suggested:
Move out of the way.
Tailgating and rude jesters rarely occur when you drive in the slow lane. You allow fasters vehicles room to pass.
If you are getting passed on the right you are in the wrong lane.
By increasing the space between you and the driver in front of you to 5-10 car lengths can eliminate 75% of all your driving frustration. It's hard to hate someone so far away.

I was on Deerfoot today (100km/h) and I was doing about 25km over, and I still had someone on my ass. Pissing me off badly enough, I just down shifted, he hit the brakes hard enough, he backed off and stayed off. I dropped about 20km in a few seconds by doing that and no brake lights, technically not illegal because I was doing so to maintain speed. I alwasy down shift.
Also, if you have a truck with a rear sliding window, or a vehicle with a sunroof. open them and when you have a tail gater, throw a ball bearing out the window. Its impossible to find afterwords, and when it bounces off their windshield or hood, or grille, they will get the message. I havn't done this, but a friend of mine does this in his truck, he picked up the trick from an older biker, that would do this to tailgaters when riding his motorcycle.

We never want to cause an accident because of these idiots.I try to annoy'em.Gently ease your speed up & down.Touch the brakes every so often hoping the brake lights will get'em off the bumper.

What I always do is get over to another lane, if I can. If I can't I pull over and let the jerk go past. If that's not an option, be sure to leave yourself enough room behind the car in front of you, so that you can slow down gradually in case the one in front needs to stop fast. That way you won't get rear ended.

Yank on the emergency brake. That way they won`t see your tail lights and really have something to worry about. Worx for me.

try touching the brake, when they see the brake light come on they back off, you may need to do it a few time ,but thet get the point

It might cause an accident, but sometimes I turn on my lights (if it's in the daytime) and it will look as IF you have tapped your brakes. Careful!

tap on the brake lightly.
if it doesn't stop. SLAM on the brake and get some money off of them.
