yes you can, but if your time goes longer than five seconds, immediatly pick up the m & m and drop it again and start the 5 second count over. then pick it up and eat it.

The 5 second rule doesn't apply to a hard non-stick candy shell. The shell can be wiped with your digit before popping it into your mouth. For M&Ms, the 3 day rule applies.

Depends on where you are. In the Subway- hell no. Just say bye bye bye! But at home I use the 30 second rule! LOL and I love stupid questions. Who cares if people get mad!

It would depend on the floor. If I was standing in manure, there would be no 5 second rule. If it's carpet, or other clean surface, who cares how long it's been there, if if looks clean, eat it.

Shoot, I get all excitied and think its mana from the gods if I find an M&M wedged in the back side of my desk drawer at work...is there a 6 month rule? I'm thinkin' "If it don't smell like feet, it's ok to eat!"

Oh of course! I may even use the 10 second rule due to the hard, non-stick shell of the M&M making pant-leg-brush-off an easy clean : ]
Very scientific if i do say so myself.

I use the 5 second rule, but if I don't make it, I'll switch to the 10 second rule.

No, cause I have 3 dogs. The 5 second rule doesn't apply in our house. It only takes one second until it's covered in dog hair.

it depends on where it was dropped. if it were in my room, i would eat it. if it were out in the middle of the street, i would not eat it. but its only one m&m. chances are its not the only one in the bag, so ill just have to sacrifice that one and get another. maybe even buy a new bag to make up for it. =P
