No. One of the things I find most interesting about this debate is when people say it should be illegal except in the case of rape, incest or danger to the mother. How do any of those things change the innocence of the child or it's right to live? I think many people who are against abortion are hypocritical in their reasoning and often misinformed and uneducated or just plain scared.

Also, I think people are pretty uninformed when they say that they don't like abortion because it seems to be an "easy" way out. I have had an abortion and making that decision was NOT easy and the procedure itself was NOT easy. It's a very personal decision and everyone has the right to make it for themselves.

While I don't think that abortion is right for every case, it would be incredibly difficult to judge the "morality" of this issue. Simply saying that it should only be allowed for rape/incest cases would raise the number of false rape reports. Rape is very difficult to prove even with evidence like bruising, because some women like rougher sex.

In the clinic where I work we counsel each woman before she goes through with an abortion. It's a hard choice, but so is giving a child away, or choosing to parent a child. Every woman has a reason, and I'm sure there have been a few women who decide to abort for reasons that might be considered 'unethical', but we can never truly determine why a woman wants to have an abortion.

I was a victim of rape at a young age, and as a result I became pregnant. I chose abortion because it was what was best for me, and now I work to help other women. I'm not a pro-abortionist, I'm a realist. If we make abortion illegal there will be too many women who turn to unsafe means. What we need to do is fix the NEED for abortion. Teach children at a young age about proper safe-sex techniques and eradicate abstinence-only education.

Abortion as a whole is not a bad or wrong choice. So many want to say that it would be better to give the child away, but there are so many flaws with that. Below is information about the foster care and adoption systems in America.

Based on current AFCARS estimates released January 2005, there are approximately 590,000 children currently in foster care in the United States. (US HHS, 2000)

In America there are 295,734,134 people. Of that number, roughly half cannot adopt children due to sexual orientation, citizenship status, cost, credit history, arrests, and current inmate status. (Also, though it may not need to be said, over 450,000 sex offenders in America are also on the blocked-from-adoption list, with good reason) That leaves just about 147,867,067 who can legally adopt a child, if they fall into the correct categories among the adoptees. That means one in every 250 people needs to adopt a child for the foster system to rebuild itself. How many people do you know that want to adopt a child? There are so many men and women who are okay with adoption, but would never adopt a child. And do you know how much it costs Americans a year for the children already in foster care? 10 billion dollars.

I’m not saying never look into any other possibilities. If you know your child is going to be adopted, then by all means, don’t abort, it’s your CHOICE, and it should be. If you worry, look into information, talk with people, and know the facts. Don’t be shouting useless blather all over the place. Look it up, decided if you want to terminate or not. It’s about having the right to choose what you want. Abortion isn’t always the best choice, but the fact is, sometimes it’s the only good option.

While infants and babies are usually adopted readily, children age 4-18 are rarely adopted, especially when an infant is available. If abortions became illegal and the only option was adoption, it's likely millions of potential young children would grow up in foster-care, never knowing a good family.

Just a few things to think about.

My problem with abortion has always been that people have used it for an easy out. "Oh, look, I was stupid and out having sex, and now I'm pregnant... oh, cool.. abortion!" Seriously, the worst story I ever heard was some woman having an abortion because she didn't want her lifestyle to change when she had a baby.

I think it should be legal in terms of is the baby safe, is the mother safe, etc.... There are so many people waiting to adopt that there are other alternatives to this. Birth control is easier to get, people are becoming smarter with their choices, etc...

Yes, because killing innocent human beings is wrong, and that is exactly what every single abortion does:

Yes it should- just like any other kind of killing- a mother delivers her baby and then abandons her baby and he/she dies- they search for the mother and then arrest her- what is the difference between before birth or after? That baby still could not live without the help of the mother- even though he/she is out of the womb- when a woman has a miscarriage people mourn the loss of that child- when a woman chooses to have abortion and the baby dies- it is called choice. Interesting how we rationalize, isn't it?

Sadly..no.Although i am 100% against abortion(since every life is special in God's eyes, and it's considered murder)There are some cases where abortion is necessary, and the baby could hurt the mother.

No. Abortion should remain legal and safe. It is a woman's choice to do what she wants with her body and have complete control over it.

No, you can't possibly except someone who was raped or molested by a family member to keep a baby like that. Also it might be harmful for the mom. Im pregnant but to me its still a fetus, its not murder, its not even totally formed yet. How can you kill something that doesnt even know how to live outside the womb yet

No. Abortion should stay legal. What would you do if they outlawed birth control?

Every woman has the right to choose and it shouldn't bother anyone if someone has an abortion because it is their life, body and decision.
