You could breed the good type of fish and sell them for good money. Even if you don't want to work in a petshop you could sell fish to petshops.

You could:
Get a job at an aquarium shop- even children help out as holiday jobs.
Breed fish and sell them
Get a job at a fish farm-importing fish and so forth.
Set up a fresh fish store in the market...

An aquarium. I used to work at the New England Aquarium in Boston, Ma. I got to rotate between the different galleries, so I got experience with all kinds of aquatic life. It was really great. A lot of aquariums have volunteer and intern programs to help you get your foot in the door.

My friend volunteers her time at the Monterey Bay Aquarium as a docent and also volunteers as a lab assistant at Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.

Marine Biologist assistant, or work with NOVA. Usually around the coastal areas, there are so many aquariums looking for people to work it is unreal. Any coastal state.

You can even go and get your degree.

Try breeding Bettas or Discus or get a job at an Aquarium or Zoo.

Check out your state's civil service website. I live in PA and they have state-run fish hatcheries around that have openings every once in a while.
