I was thinking that they show American Idol at 8 o clock here in California and that would mean it would show at 11 o clock on the east and that wouldnt make too much sense.

ya no, us in wonderful cali get to see it after everyone else! so when they say that its live, it really isnt. which sucks aass! but o well.

No, it's not live. You can look online and see who gets voted off before the show even starts here on the West Coast.

It's not live, it's recorded and fits perfectly into the time slot! It's shown Primetime in each timezone I guess, so how does that affect the voting?

no, it is not live on the west coast. I live in cali ( where the show is taped) and it comes on at eight , my friend in texas watches it before me.
