Your ebay ID is not hidden, you're misunderstood. If you go on ebay and look at any item than has any amount of bids (1 bid or more), click on the number of bids. For ex.- 13 bids. If you click on "13 bids", it will show all the user ID's that have been bidding on that particular item. The only thing that's secret is each person's maximum bid.

As someone has already mentioned earlier, your eBay identity isn't hidden when you bid on an item unless it's a private auction. It sounds highly likely that another seller with the same item for sale simply went through the list of bidders for that item and contacted them offering to sell their item to them.

If you are very lucky, it could be that the seller is slow to send your item, but if they are not replying to your messages and particularly as you paid by Western Union, you might have been scammed. Ebay does warn members not to use this method of payment . Personally I always pay by PayPal as it does at least offer some level of protection for buyers.

I doubt very much that you will be able to get your money back - see the link below to a thread from the Question & Answer section of the community forums on eBay where someone else asked this question

Upon checking, it would appear that not only do eBay not recommend paying by Western Union, but it may even be against eBay rules - see this link which is their official advice on how to pay for your items.

Noone can contact you unless you have placed a bid on their item. Never send money without going through ebay checkout, and read their feedback and make sure they have good feedback. Wait another week because some people only ship out once a week.I do agree with you about ebay and their lack of information completely. And they take every fee they can think of.
But that is our great country for you. And the great way our government has made big business have more rights than its own citizens.
