i have a few platies that look like they are getting fatter(pregnant?) and i have read tons about gravid spots but i'm still not sure exactly where they start. i know they look like crescent moons. 4 out of 5 look like they have crescent moons that start close to the anal fin but go all the way up teir backs. anyone know where i can find a picture of a gravid spot or if you are sure this is it let me know. thank you so much. p.s. i did have 10 platies and the others had none but i think may have been killed off by my male. it is pretty big so is that a possibility too? i am assuming this is the male because it is the only one without a dark crescent moon type thing. lol...sorry for all the questions but i love asking questions on this site.

Gravid spots are difficult to see on many platys due to the dense color. it sounds like tht is exactly what you are seeing on your fish. Here's the best pic I could find on short notice

Platys are generally very mild mannered and I wouldn't expect even a large male to cause any problems. No clue what might be happening but a male killing the females is a long shot in my opinion.
