Just wondering if ya'll thought weight gain in pregnancy is hereditary at all ? I only ask because i haven't gained alot of weight so far (33wks) and haven't really gained anywhere except my stomach - everyone keeps telling me how lucky i am. It got me thinking - my Mum had three children and with all three she gained very little weight. She too carried all in the stomach and didn't really put on weight anywhere else - like me she could still fit her pre-pregnancy pants through out - as long they could sit under the belly! lol.

So i was curious, could weight gain be hereditary? Or do you think its just coincidence?

Thanks for your opinions! :)

Just to clarify i'm not worried about the lack of weight gain. My doc is perfectly happy with my eating habits, my health, and the health of my baby and i'm no where near starving myself!

It could be hereditary, I only gained 15lbs total through out my pregnancy and had a 7lbs 14oz baby. My mom gained in between 15 and 20lbs with all 5 of her kids. So it is kind of right in the same area.

Could be but I dont know. My friend gained over 100 lbs with her first! but the most her mom ever gained with any of her 4 kids was 40 lbs or so. I also heard that if you carry all in the stomach youre going to have a girl and if youre carrying all over youre gonna have a boy. I dont know how true this is but me, my cousin and one of my friends all carried in the stomach and we all had girls. My neighbor and my friend who gained 100 lbs carried all over and they both had boys.

I would ask your doctor. It doesn't sound normal to me. Maybe you are not eating right. I dont really know though.

i dont know but nowadays there are finding alot of things that are linked in our genes. if it is gentic and we dont know about it, they may not have found that yet.
