Well, I will let others tell you the scientific theory on Deja Vu. It could be you are not learning what you failed to learn in a previous life and this deja vu is trying to get you back on track so you will not have to learn the same lessons again in your next life.
Research reincarnation and possibly you will find the answers. As a Wiccan I do not beleive we reincarnate as animals, I believe we go from human life to human life and learn different lessons in each life or repeat certain lessons until we have learned all we are meant to learn.

The source can be good or useless if it is a problem with the mind it is not good or bad. I have psychic dreams that I some time remember when I wake up and the events occur at a undetermined date, then I recall the dream after the event happens, but some times I will enter a moment then I recall the whole dream before the moment finishes unfolding, then I use it to my advantage I have used to avoid 7 major driving accidents. Most likely you are developing your psychic abilities. No worries, this is a good thing, I have used it much to my advantage, try to silence the mind and let the daja-vu happen in your mind before it happens in reality, so you can alter the outcome.

There is a physiological condition called chronic deja-vu. It's not very well known or very well studied as lots of people won't admit to suffering from it. I read of one case were a man suffered so badly from it he refused to do anything as he thought he'd done it before. He even "remembered" going to his friend's funeral even though the friend in question was still alive.
If it's becoming a problem then you may need to speak to a medical expert, unfortunately their aren't many of those around but there is some research currently underway about the condition.
These web sites might help you a bit more.

Don't panic though, it doesn't mean you are dying.

Think about this..........your mind is the control centre of your personality........your brain feeds your body with hormones and messeges for all your emotions, such as adreniline when you need it most.............when you are overcome with happiness your brain censors this and your body feels so great............these messeges that are being sent around your body from your brain are in cordination with exactly how your mind is feeling...........people belive it's an unseen force (karma) but if deep down inside your mind you are worrying about something, i.e getting old and reaching the later years of the average life, then sub-conciously this will be set into the brain and certain signals will be transmitted around the body.........now maybe these signals from your sub-concious mind are making you see other things that you where keeping sub-conciously hidden, such as past events............afterall, you said in your question that you are worried incase this all means that your life is coming to an end.....so therefore you must have thought this before deep down....and this fear is causing your brain to pick excuses for it......but in reality it is this fear that is causing your brain to think of Deja-Vu. Your body and mind is made efficient by electrical impulses and chemical reactions........the mind is the most powerful thing you and I will ever possess. If you can control it well enough, you can use it to do many amazing things, even control things which seem uncontrollable. Try meditating every day.

Deja vu is the feeling you're having the same experience you already had before right? Most older people live incredibly repetitive lives. I guess they just don't notice... Maybe this recent bout of deja vu is your subconscious' way of letting you know you're in a rut. Maybe it's time to take find a new path.

I think that it is an excellent sign that you have great brain functioning. Many people believe, as do I, that deja-vu is your subconscious processing information faster than your thoughts or conscious information. In that nano-second between the processes one gets the illusion that they have been there before. It all happens so fast that it often has a mystical or other-worldly feel. I say "good for you!"

...deja vu is explainable: micro messages recorded on peoples' appearances and actions throughout generations sometimes- which some people more than others are able to read in dreams (day or night) or naturally unaware while awake...
registering that information in a state of awareness produces deja vu... n'est pas?

déjà vu is french and means, literally, "already seen." the feeling describe it as an overwhelming sense of familiarity with something that shouldn't be familiar at all. and you have the feeling that you've already experienced this. déjà vu is rather complex, and there are many different theories as to why déjà vu happens. Swiss Arthur Funkhouser suggests that there are several "déjà experiences",examples mentioned ; the first incidence as déjà visité ("already visited") and the second as déjà vecu ("already experienced or lived through").
A higher number of incidents occurs in people 15 to 35 years old than in any other age group. Since déjà vu occurs in individuals with and without a medical condition, there is much speculation as to how and why this phenomenon happens. Several psychoanalysts attribute déjà vu to simple fantasy or wish fulfillment, Many parapsychologists believe it is related to a past-life experience.
