First, you need to able to jump higher. See your strength coach at school or a trainer at your local YMCA or gym before you get started on this and injure yourself.
Second, be certain you are fully extending your shooting arm and following through properly.
Third, practice releasing the ball quicker. Have some friends "rush" at you as you receive a bounce pass from another friend and attempt to shoot the ball. Have your friends extend their arms above their shoulders rather than attempt to block the ball.
Fourth, since you are a guard, practice shooting a mid-range jumper OFF THE DRIBBLE 10-14 feet from the basket. Shooting the "trey" is great - but after the first or second one goes in, you're going to have someone in your face the rest of the game.

so far from what i can see, really good answers...but to add on...
the release point is the most important as far as your question summarizes... When shooting...
1)have your feet set...thats the most important
2)Shoulders square to the basket
3)Keep your shooting elbow in close and dont let it stick out (this ensures the accuracy)
4)Follow through with your index finger pointing to the middle of the rim
5)Have a high release point
6)Just flick the wrist and follow through

practice off with free throws and shot from the elbow and set shots...then practice footwork and jumpshots and turn around jumpers...the fadeaway is the last..you can ask me if you would like more help.

great shooters can create their own shot of the dribble, come of screens and shoot with a pivot foot not established (you can throw in a pump fake and go around). or make an open set shot created by penetration or swinging the ball around.

last but not least...for a higher release point, pretend there is a small hoop(circle) above your head...use it as a guide for how high your release point is...trust me it works..there is actually a place where u can buy that tool... email me if you want to know where to get shooting tools

Technique my man and mega practice time. Elbow in, extend the arm, snap the wrist, follow through with straight fingers - bent fingers tend to flatten the flight of the ball.

height isnt as important as the speed that you get your shot off. Work on getting set before you get the ball past to you and make sure your squared up.

doesnt really matter how you shoot as long as yopu can make it. Look at some of the NBA and college players, they have shi tty form. Shoot 1000 shots a day in the offseason. Trust me.
