The first one (Feb) was a combined effort by moderates, liberals, communists, etc. to get the Czar to abdicate power. This was mainly the result of the Russian public's weariness of the First World War. The Czar did step down, and a fight ensued between all of the different factions. That fighting led to the attempted seizure of power by the Bolsheviks (communists) in October 1917. This led to a civil war that ended in 1922, with the communists being the victors.

I'm quite good at history.

thanks for asking.

BTW

A) It is Tomorrow NOT 2merow. (makes you look stupid and lazy).

B) I shouldn't do this, but I'll give you some help.

Kerenski took over in the Feb. revolution. He tried to set up a democratic government and keep Russia in WW1. The Duma (Russian Parliment) was to fractured and wouldn't work together. (A lot like the Iraqi Parliment today.) Also the war was deeply unpopular because the Russians had been loosing, badly, for a long time. The only thing they did right was the Brusolov Offensive against the Austrians, and that was a big win, but the couldn't hold their gains.

The people were hungry, cold, and very frustrated.

The Germans knew this and they contacted Lennin, who was in exile in Switzerland. They gave him money and put him on a train to St. Petersburg, so he could start a Revolution.

Lennin got there and took action. People were so frustrated that they figured "Well it can't get any worse!" and backed him.
(Note to file, if History teaches us anything it is that anyone who says "Well it can't get any worse" is ALWAYS wrong.)

His Revolution was the November Revolution, that brought the Communists
(reds) to power. Note that it is normally called "The October Revolution" because on the old style Russian Callendar it took place in October. (The Russians had a real life battleship called The October Revolution, and this is where Tom Clancy got the name for his submarine in The Hunt for Red October.)

The Reds pulled Russia out of the war. Their Army just quit and went home. The Russians had to sign the Treaty of Brest Litovsk (sp?) where they gave huge portions of Russia to Germany.

Kerenski's people and the surviving Tsarists formed The Whites, and there was a Russian Civil War between the Whites and the Reds. The USA and the Brits and the French backed the Whites, and landed a few troops, but the Whites lost and the allied troops pulled out.

Poland and Finland took the opportunity to declare independece from Russia and were able to make it stick.
