I was working at the Atlantic City Iron Ore Operation, a strip mine in Wyoming when a weather phenomenon occurred:
A lightning storm attracted by the iron within lasting about 1/2 hour.
Every 2 to 8 seconds there would be a strike and immediately following a clap, no, a BOOM of thunder. Not one of the 100 men working that shift outside were hurt but it sure kept us on our toes!
We either stayed inside buildings or were in trucks to be safe.
It was, uh, exciting!

tornado that ripped through the city I live in. It wasn't even as bad an some tornados can be....no one died but it was so sad to see that every big old tree in the park I grew up playing at was ripped out of the ground...they were standing tall and proud earlier that afternoon....
The city was a mess and we didn't have power for days...
Still, like I said....many cities have been hit much worse by tornados.

I was coming home on the highway last night during a severe thunderstorm, and came upon a wreck (probably hydroplaning) I had full view of a woman plastered to the inside of her windshield, not moving...the cops were standing there doing nothing, I know she was already dead.

Seen one tornado, and heard the other one -- it was nighttime. Terrifying. Survived hurricane Alicia in Houston in 1984(?) and a major heatwave in Dallas in 1981. Scariest one had to be that tornado at night though. It was really loud. It woke us up and we couldn't tell how close it really was to us.

Tornado. I live in Kansas and had one destroy our home before. Luckily we were in the process of moving and a lot of the stuff was already moved out.
