My girlfriend has a good number of friends who are guys, and she occasionally stays with them overnight. I know the guys and I trust her to not do anything, and I understand that they are just friends. Our pastor says that for her to stay with them overnight like this is a sin, but the only evidence I have seen to support this is if something happens between them while she stays there. Does anyone have any information to confirm either side of the argument? This is quite a crux for me, because I don't know who to side with due to lack of evidence in either case. I can't tell my pastor that he is wrong without looking into it further, and I definately won't tell my girlfriend that she is sinning without evidence to support it.

Your pastor is full of crap. If your friend is innocent, then who is that jerk to say she is committing some sin? It is not a sin to sleep, or to have friends of opposite sex - last time I checked.

I am a Baptist and I cannot see how it could be considered a sin. Mind you I am no great theologian by any stretch but my gut says that your pastor is wrong. Even if they were living together, if they are not romantically involved and sleep separate from each other i don't think it constitutes sin. It may not look right to some and maybe that is what your pastor is getting at. But what other people think isn't important. The only opinion that matters is the Lord, if he is OK with it then don't worry about others.

"Sin" is very vaugue. Some would consider it a sin to eat certain animals. Some would consider working on the Sabbath a sin. Others would consider neither to be a sin. If you want to really research this then read the bible and a bunch of stuff about interpreting it and applying it to modern life, etc. In our societies anymore any biblical law on the subject would probably be out of date with how things have become for many reasons though.

I honestly think that it maybe oook that she sleeps in the same house as these men do, but that she should REALLY watch and becareful of what she does... if there is lusting going on, then YES its a sin, if there's aldutery going on then YES its a sin. It just depends what she's doing, and a girl with men in the same house the same night its obviouse that these things are bound to happen!

According to the Bible, it says "Let there not be a HINT of impurity among you." I believe it's in Ephesians (ch4? ch 6?). I'm too lazy to look it up, but it's easily located.
I think in our society, if a girl is sleeping in the same house as a man, it is guessed they are having sex, and that would be a "hint of impurity." That's probably what her pastor is referencing. He should have backed it up with the scripture reference; or, if he did, then your friend wasn't paying attention.
Anyway, I'm not religious, so I don't really care. To me, the real sin would be for a girl to sleep in my home and NOT give up some lovin.'

This is the reason why I do not go to church. Pastors tell you that pretty much everything you do is a sin and I can not stand the fact that they can tell you what to believe in. No it is not a sin. Jesus prob. got laid all the time and he was never married. Thirty something and never got laid .. Please.
