I just bought a new computer with Microsoft Vista and it has a dvd burner. I was wondering if anyone knew what I would have to download so that I can burn regular dvd's to dvd-r's. Like if I were to rent a movie and wanted to burn it.

Two things :

A good burning suite like Nero 7.
Free 30 day trial (well worth buying) :

&

A program that is able to remove the copyright encryption from copy protected DVDs.
I suggest DVD Shrink (free & flawless) :

DVD Shrink uses the Nero engine to automatically burn the DVD onto a blank media (or to your hard drive) as soon as it finishes
decrypting it.

Make sure Nero 7 is properly installed on your PC before you install DVD Shrink.
I've been using this combination for almost 4 years & it has never failed me.

All free programs here, and will give you the best results. Rip the dvd to your hard drive with dvd decrypter. then shrink it with dvd shrink or shrink to 5. then burn it with your burn software. Doom9.net has guides to help you and free applications.

use the vista intergrated dvd burning system, or if you want to go for a good lasting solution go for Nero 7.7 or higher... but u hav to pay for it. the other free programs I know are not very reliable and not user friendly. also i advise you to try cyberlink power2go. good luck

Neuro burnner is enough to burn or copy a dvd unless it is write protected and in that case you require clonedvd to burn your protected software.
