I installed watts connectors with Zurn Flex pipe, equipment operating / working fine for more than 3 weeks with 32 lbs of water pressure no leaks. The installation is in a new detached RV garage building with a restroom. I called my city building inspector and he asked to see the installers certification for the Flex pipe. I am a home Owner/Builder.I installed everything and have 10 years experience in copper/metal pipe but I am not a licensed plumber I just do alot of work on personal property, where does a Home Owner-Builder get certificate to install flex pipe( Zurn brand name ) and does a Home Owner ever need to be certificate because of liability installation to their own property

I assume you are talking about Pex tubing with crimp connectors. Certification is usually performed by a representative of the manufacturer. As a volunteer builder for Habitat for Humanity, I was certified three years ago when we first used Pex tubing in one of our projects. Basically, the instructor educated us on the technology and then showed us how to install the crimp fittings. You first ream the tubing, then crimp the connector, and finally check the crimp with a go/no-go gauge.

Three special tools are required: the reamer, the crimper, and the gauge. These tools are not readily available to the homeowner, and the inspector may be concerned that the connectors were not installed according to the manufacturer's specifications. It is certainly within his prerogative to insist upon verifying the certification of the installer.
