Heard this from Oprah and Janet Jackson when they turned 40.

It was absolutely true for me! It's not like I still don't care about my appearance or performance, but I've just grown to realize that it doesn't MATTER what anyone thinks of me. I've grown to be happy just knowing I'm doing my best. I don't need anyone else's approval. It's AMAZINGLY freeing!

I think learning that is the true gift of your 40s, and I think that's probably what Oprah and Janet meant.

Great question!

Yep. It's true. I turned 40 and could give a rat's azz what anyone thinks anymore!!
I spent my whole life doing th "image" thing. Bunch of crap.
I'm so much happier now, single, sometimes lonely, but lots of dates still roll in.....and I pick and choose!! Life is Better after the big 4-0!!

I know exactly what they are talking about, in your late thirties you really start to come into your own, know what your path in life is, can speak up for yourself and become more true to your authentic self.

I still enjoy dressing well and taking care of myself, but it is based on my own thoughts and feelings, not based on what the latest fashion trend is, or if I am supposed to look like a particular model or not.

It is almost like growing up into adulthood all over again, and being more centered and sure of yourself. Have a good night.

Hmm I don't know about that I am in my 20s and I stopped caring well lets say I stopped caring at 22 Know I just want to make myself happy instead of making other people happy. Maybe in your 40s you are more accomplished and at that point what others think of you doesn't matter because you know who you are.

That phenomenon can happen at ANY age if you are smart enough to conquer your fears. People are so uptight about what other people think about them- instead they should channel their energy into caring about other people-- it will do more good, make them feel better and the world would be a better place with less callous, shallow self-centered individuals living amongst us.

I turn 40 this year and i have to tell you that this is a load of BS.
I havent given a flying rats **** what people thought about me since i was 30.

Life is to short to be worrying about this, be yourself and be happy with who you are.

Thats my aim in life

I'm only 34 and I quit caring about what other people thought of me decades ago! Be true to yourself and have fun in life! After all, you only live once!

Pretty much! Actually someone told it was when you hit 30, and I gotta say, once that happened, I care less and less every year. I think you just get to be comfortable in your own skin.

Every age cares about what other people think. The only person that you should really listen to is yourself.
