I'm not asking for myself. I am 34 weeks and a friend of mine had an abortion at approximetely 12 weeks. I want to understand what she is going through. She asked to see ultrasound pictures and video of my baby at 12 weeks but i refused because the pictures and video are so clear i think it would distress her further.

My friend had one at 13 weeks. She was in lot of pain few a few days and she was upset about it for a while. She thinks she made the right decision though. She already has two children she has trouble taking care of and she has no significant other. She also has a lot of heath problems. I don't think she should have done it, and I never would. But I am also not in her shoes.

you are right it would distress her. at 12 weeks they probably used a "vacuum" type of machine to remove the baby from her. it is really sad that she is asking to see the ultrasound pics now that she already had the abortion. she should have looked at them before, maybe she would have changed her mind.

In a D&C, the baby is suctioned out of the uterus. The cramping and bleeding eventually stop, but the ache in the heart doesn't. I'd say let her see the pictures. She needs to grieve the child she has lost. Assure her that God will forgive her, and that she needs to forgive herself and move on.
